The SolarSystem Controller is not required to use California LightWorks LED grow lights. Without it, the user can set the SolarSystem 1100, 550, or 275 to always-on mode and use the lights at full blast while plugged to a timer just like any other grow light.
However, In order to use the SolarSystem 1100, 550, or 275 to their full capabilities, we recommend purchasing the SolarSystem Controller as it allows the user to:
- Customize the desired spectrum
- Set the desired light and dark hours
- Set a calendar of programs for each growth phase
- Put the SolarSystem LED grow light into view mode
- Use the advanced programming to change the spectrum up to 20 times in a 24 hour period
- Manually change the spectrum
- Enable the sunrise / sunset feature and choose its time length
It is also important to note that the SolarSystem controller can control a limitless number of chained SolarSystem lights, which makes it perfect for applications of all sizes.
