# What's the difference between full spectrum and red/blue LED grow lights?

Full spectrum grow lights such as the SolarXtreme series come with a fixed full spectrum that is great for all phases of growth from start to finish. These lights emit a balanced range of wavelengths across the visible spectrum, They aim to mimic natural sunlight, which benefits plants throughout all growth stages.

On the other hand, red/blue LED grow lights such as the SolarSystem series have adjustable spectrum and higher efficiency. More targeted results can be achieved with this type of lights since the user can adjust the spectrum for each phase of growth. Red/blue lights primarily emit only red and blue wavelengths, targeting the specific peaks of chlorophyll absorption. These lights are often used for cost-effective, targeted growth during the vegetative and flowering stages but may lack some of the benefits provided by a broader spectrum, potentially leading to reduced overall plant health and secondary metabolite production.
